| Relay for Life is the largest, volunteer driven fund raising event for the American Cancer Society. It is not a race because the only finish line is finding a cure to the over 100 types of cancer that devastate the lives of individuals, their families and friends. It is a community of people that come together for a one night event, to help fight this horrible disease, to honor those who are in their battle, to remember those that lost the battle and to support those that are caregivers during their loved ones battle. So what happens at relay. Is there a track or route that is to be completed? YES—but it is completed as a team. Remember, our race is against cancer, not each other. What we do have is: music—lots & lots of music, games, crying, laughing, fun, hugging, giggling, friendship, more hugging, more crying and more laughing. |
